(acquired by PMC-Sierra, NASDAQ:PMCS)
Based in Allentown, Pa., AANetcom delivers System on a Chip (SOC) solutions for high-speed, serial communication integrated circuits. These chips feature unprecedented levels of integration, performance, scalability and aggregate bandwidth at a relatively low cost--allowing the web, for example, to deliver higher bandwidth and faster speed. AANetcom was co-founded in September 1997 by Kal Shastri, Ph.D., and nine others who have made pioneering contributions in the field of high-speed serial communications. PMC-Sierra (NASDAQ:PMCS) acquired the company in March 2000 in a transaction valued at approximately $900 million. This opportunity will help AANetcom to reach its goal of providing next generation IC solutions that enhance the performance of network and communication systems.
"Our continued success is a combination of team, technology, strategic partners and location." Shastri said. "We were extremely fortunate to find a friend from the start in PA Early Stage. They not only shared our vision and had the confidence in our team to provide critical financial support, but they helped us secure the advisors and professional services along the way which has been a key to our success."
