Gentara Corp., a biopharmaceutical start-up developing treatments for HIV infection and cancer, plans to add another $4 million to its founding round of Series A financing after raising $8 million in March, President and Chief Executive John Gill told VentureWire. The firm hopes to wrap up the funds by next month, Gill said.

The March financing was led by HealthCare Ventures LLC of Princeton, N.J., which has provided the start-up with $5 million in exchange for what Gill described as a "majority position." PA Early Stage of Wayne, Penn., also came into the round with $2 million. The remainder of financing was provided by an individual investor.
